Usure

Wear is produced by standard operation of machines or other technical equipment. As a rule, wear occurs as changes in the surfaces of sliding, combing or rotating parts. Wear can be subdivided into three categories:

- Run-in wear: increased wear during initial operation until all moving parts have gained their optimum clearances.

- Constant wear: wear after run in. Constant wear is much lower after run in and remains more or less constant during the expected service life (useful life) of an appliance.

- Breakdown wear: at the end of the life cycle of an appliance, the wear on some of its parts becomes very distinct and progressively worse. Finally, the function of individual components fails and the appliance breaks down.
