Water pump
Water pumps are used where tap water has too little pressure or is not recommended for use.
Water is pumped from the available source (cisterns, water barrels, a pond, creek or the like) and transported with suitable pressure to the consuming device usually some type of sprinkler. In order to cater for all possible applications, water pumps should feature a good intake height, sufficient pump lift (pressure in bar) and flow rate. An intake height of 8 m, a pump lift of 35 m and a flow rate of 5000 l/h are considered good. Additional criteria are weight, noise and service life. For the above mentioned reasons, multi-stage centrifugal pumps are preferred over single-stage (jet) models. Water pumps can also be used for evacuation purposes.
