Manual or machine tool for the surface treatment of various materials. Files are chip-producing tools: a multitude of cutters are arranged on the file body whose number and geometry is chosen to suit the intended purpose. Files for rough surface treatment of wood are also called rasps. If the cutters are arranged on a cylindrical body, we are talking about a rotating file which is used in conjunction with straight grinders.
