Wood, maximum drilling diameter

Holz, maximaler Bohrdurchmesser

Madera, diámetro maximal de brocas

Bois, diamètre maximal de foret

In comparison to steel, wood materials have considerably less density which, depending on aging and humidity, varies from 0.45 g/mm2 in spruce and pine, to 0.72 g/mm2 in beech wood. This means that the maximum range for drill diameters is up to 2.5 times larger than in steel. Since dryness and drill bit friction tend to influence these values, the advantage of wood can be partially eroded, and approximate steel values are reached again.
