Point de rupture

Rupture points or pressure-relief joints are used in mechanical engineering to protect components or subassemblies against sudden overload and resulting damage. An example of a rupture point is a coupling pin connecting the output shaft with the machine transmission. In case of an overload condition, e. g. a blockage, the rupture point will yield and set the transmission free, i.e. the high-quality transmission will not suffer damage. Rupture points are so designed as to ensure simple and low-cost replacement of relevant parts.
