Rotary current mains

Todays rotary power mains supply network spans the world and has an unequalled supply density. Three-phase rotary current can be carried across long distances with little loss of energy, however only in a high voltage state. In Europe we have 50 Hz distribution centers which are commonly designed for 220/380 volt. The supply lines to individual consumers consist of the three conductive phases R-S-T, the neutral conductor M and the protective conductor PE. Three-phase power requires leads with 5 conductors. The alternating-current mains makes use of one of the three conductive phases R, S or T, the neutral conductor M and the protective conductor PE. Exceptions: Anglo-Saxon countries commonly have 240/400 volt at 50 Hz, whereas the USA have 117/240 volt at 60 Hz.

During the course of European harmonisation, power supply networks with 230/240 volt were introduced as standard. We believe today that all electric power tools can be run on the increased operating voltage and used without restriction.
