A transformer which has an outlet for the "earth-free" connection to a power tool. Earth-independent separation increases safety when using power tools in damp locations or metal tanks (e.g. boilers) or in case of possible insulation damage. Power tools intended for use with isolating transformers are equipped with a special plug. Only one tool may be connected to one isolating transformer at any time. The connection must be direct without using an extension cord.
