Eccentric drive
The rotary motion from a shaft drives a disc whose centre is not identical with the centre of the drive shaft. This results in a motion which is superimposed on the rotary motion. Eccentric sanders make use of this double effect to achieve the optimal sanding motion. Eccentricity is the distance between the two motion centres or in more simple terms: it is the operational radius of the eccentric motion. It is stated in mm.
