Sintered materials, sintered metals
Sintered materials are made of mixed powdered materials. The contents and proportions of the individual materials (metal types) determine the resulting properties. Sintered materials are usually moulded under high pressure and then baked (sintered) at temperatures between 800 and 1300 °C. In addition to the material composition, the material properties are also determined by the grain
size, density and sinter temperature. Sintering is a method used mainly to shape complex parts which could not or not as easily be produced by metal-cutting or chip-producing processes. Since there is usually no secondary treatment required, and since the material can be tailored to suit all requirements, sintering has become established as a highly efficient and economical manufacturing process.
