Regulations
The main regulation governing power tools in Germany is the DIN-VDE 0740 ?Hand-held power tools?. This German standard is in line with the European power tool standard EN 50144.
Another applicable standard is VDE 0100/DIN 57 100 Provisions for the installation of high-voltage systems with a maximum voltage of 1000 V.
In addition one has to observe the regulations for the prevention of accidents defined by the employers liability insurance association, as far as they contradict neither DIN VDE 0740 nor HD 400. Special attention has to be paid to the accident prevention regulations of the wood, construction and agricultural associations. Underground operations are governed by special regulations covering the possible risk of firedamp. (See also DIN and Safety requirements)
