Polishable wood
Basically all types of wood are polishable if they were suitably prepared by rough or fine sanding. An especially good finish can be achieved on finely textured hard and noble timbers such as maple or cherry. On the other hand this also applies to hard and roughly textured timbers such as elm if they were suitably prepared by using so-called pore sealers. Some coniferous timbers can also be well polished, such as, for example, Scots pine and larch. Unsuitable for polishing are highly absorbent timbers such as poplar, willow or lime.
