Copie pirate

A pirate copy is the apparently near perfect copy of a brand-name product by manufacturers in third-world countries which disregard international patent laws and whose government agencies tolerate these activities to the benefit of their economies. Not only the products and model names, but also the packaging, operating instructions, spare parts list and all components are copied with such perfection that the difference can only be seen when you open the product or when you use it for the first time. Quality labels and compliance stamps are often obtained by false means with special models or copied. Services such as customer service, spare parts and sales support by the manufacturer or importer are as a rule non-existent.
