Jaw or square-tooth clutch
A clutch is used if the rigid power transmission from motor to machine tool is not desired.
A jaw clutch consists of two separate units whereby the jaws on the one unit fit into the recesses on the other unit. Both units can be braced against each-other by an adjustable pressure spring with more or less force. This increases or reduces the available torque range. If the spring tension in a jaw clutch is not adjustable, the cut-out torque will always be the same.
