A groove is a usually machine produced channel with vertical and parallel running sides and as a rule a straight groove base.
Grooves are also made with conical, V-shaped sides or dovetail-shaped cross-sections.
Grooves are often used for decorative and practical purposes, especially in furniture making and interior fittings.
They are often found in joints of ornamental and finishing rails for floor boards (ploughed and tongued boards with groove and milled tongue) and for joints on deals, profiled wood, panels and boards for interior fittings.
