Contact pressure
This is the manual pressure exerted by the the tool user to achieve optimum penetration at the correct cutting speed of the drill bit. In trial workstations the manual pressure is re-created by pressure cylinders.
In the case of impact drills the drilling performance depends largely on the applied contact pressure; in comparison to this, the operator pressure for electro-pneumatic or electro-mechanical rotary hammers has only a minor influence.
