Compressor
In order to operate air tools, compressed air produced by a compressor is needed. A general distinction is made between these four compressor types:
1. one or two-stage reciprocating compressor
2. rotary compressor
3. worm compressor
4. turbo compressor
The most popular type is the reciprocating compressor. Usually the compressor is powered by a rotary current motor and the compressed air is stored in a pressure vessel (air dome). Short consumption peaks are covered by the stored compressed air in the pressure vessel. In addition the pressure tank serves as a buffer and absorbs pressure variations.
