Blade holder

The blade holder is a plug-in socket on the front end of the power tool and is used to insert screwdriver blades directly into the drive spindle. In addition to the drill chuck fitting, some drills are equipped with a 1/4" fitting for blades.

Two blade holders with 1/4" hexagon are rather common:

- ball catch for long screwdriver blades

- spring ring retention for short screwdriver blades

Caution! Blades with a groove for the ball catch must not be inserted into blade sockets with a spring ring. The ring would lock onto the ball groove, the bit will be wedged and be very difficult to remove.
