Belt speed
In contrast to the cutting speed of angle grinders, straight grinders and drills which is given in m/sec, the speed of belt sanders is generally stated in m/min. Accordingly, a speed of 250 m/min would mean that the sanding belt could move the machine 250 m in one minute if it was free to do so. This is equivalent to a speed of about 10 mph.
