Battery voltage
On the basis of a rated cell voltage of approximately 1.2 volt, you can determine the number of battery cells in the power pack by checking the battery voltage. It is always divisible by 1.2. A 12 volt battery pack has therefore 10 cells. Common battery voltages are 2.4 V, 3.6 V, 4.8 V, 7.2 V, 9.6 V, 12 V, 13.2 V, 14.4 V and 24 V. Voltages of less than 7.2 volt are generally used for smaller power tools, 24 volts are used for high-performance professional machines.
