Composite materials
Composite materials consist of two or more different types of material which are permanently joined by suitable means. There are three main categories:
- layered composites, for example, laminated wood panels or particle board, sandwich board.
- fibre composites, made, for example, from fibreglass and synthetic resin.
- particle composites, made, for example, from powder metal, sintered metal.
